Dentures & Partial Dentures

Brampton Family Dental Provides Dentures and Partial Dentures for Stronger Oral Health

Dentures usually consist of replacement teeth attached to gum-colored plastic bases and can help you regain confidence by replacing a full row of teeth or gaps that need filling. At Brampton Family Dental, we can craft a full or partial denture designed to restore form as well as function and still look natural. Dentures keep the underlying structures of your mouth, including your gums, jawbone, and facial muscles, active and engaged. They can prevent the other teeth in your mouth from shifting, providing the strength and form needed for normal chewing and speaking.

Partial Dentures

Missing teeth can cause bite pressure shifts in your mouth and the shrinking of both soft tissues and supporting bone around the missing teeth. At Brampton Family Dental we offer partial dentures that are a minimally invasive option for replacing missing teeth and are usually less expensive than other treatments. They require regular maintenance but are easy to get used to and are appropriate when you still have other teeth that are healthy.

A partial denture may consist of metal framework or clasps that connect to your natural teeth, and may require crowns on your natural teeth to improve the way they fit. Partial dentures need to be removed and cared for daily, usually taken out at bedtime and put back in when you wake up. If you experience pressure points or sore spots, make a follow-up visit with our office, and we can adjust the dentures so they fit comfortably.

Full Dentures

Full dentures are used when all the teeth are missing and created from an impression taken of your smile. The base of the top denture covers the roof of your mouth, and the lower denture is horseshoe shaped to accommodate your tongue. New dentures may feel awkward at first, and eating and speaking will take some practice. The muscles of your tongue and cheeks learn to hold the dentures in place over time. As you age your mouth changes so you will need to have your dentures relined or remade. It is important that you visit our office at least once a year for a checkup and examination of your dentures.
